Another week of #NHPolitics Ins and Outs, taking you on a tour of the ever-changing world of New Hampshire Politics, keeping score of the winners and losers week-by-week — and letting you know who’s in and who’s out.

Let’s get into it.

Who’s In?

Joyce Craig’s Big Endorsement — In the incredibly tight primary between Joyce Craig and Cinde Warmington, it’s Joyce who got the big endorsement in the final days before next Tuesday’s election, getting NHPolitics megastar Senator Maggie Hassan’s nod.

The campaign released a video with Hassan this week and had her on hand for a weekend of primary GOTV events in Manchester.

Goodlander’s Strong Final Week — The final week of the NH02 congressional primary goes to Maggie Goodlander after snagging a string of high-profile endorsement flips from opponent Colin Van Ostern, nabbing Stonyfield dairy magnate Gary Hirshberg and former New Hampshire governor John Lynch, stories first scooped by the Granite Post.

Harris Visits NH — Speaking to a huge crowd of over 3,000 at Throwback Brewery in North Hampton this week, Kamala Harris launched their small business initiative with the help of brewery co-founders Annette Lee and Nicole Carrier.

The pair said hosting the Democratic candidate was the first public political move they have ever engaged in, saying the stakes were too high this year to stay on the sidelines.

“As a small business, we’ve never —I mean, we’ve never, ever — stepped out into the political arena. But at this point, we kind of figured, do we have a choice?” said Carrier introducing Harris at the event. Read more at our write-up here.

Pappas Keeps His Foot on the Gas — Congressman Chris Pappas is keeping the pressure up in his race, releasing his second TV ad of the 2024 cycle highlighting how his advocacy in the House has lowered Granite Staters’ prescription drug costs.

Take a look at the ad here.

Shop Talk with Shrader — The razor-sharp Nathan Shrader, Associate Professor of Politics and Co-Director of the Center for Civic Engagement at New England College has begun a recurring video segment on Granite Post video accounts! Check out his fiercely-local analysis and updates on the political happenings here in New Hampshire. Check it out on TikTok and Instagram, and be sure to subscribe to see the latest from Shrader!

House Dems Roll Out 2025 Priorities — House Democratic Leader Matt Wilhelm of Manchester announced late last week the “Freedom & Affordability” agenda, outlining the New Hampshire House Democratic Caucus’s top priorities for the 2025-2026 legislative term.  Check out our write-up here.

Who’s Out!

Trump Campaign Lies about Harris NH Visit — Some of the most senior members of Donald Trump’s campaign spent time this week spreading conspiracy theories about the Kamala Harris visit to New Hampshire this week, saying buses used to move supporters to/from nearby parking, lies that spread widely.

We debunked those lies here, talking to the general manager of the bus company. Take a look and remember, as always, take everything Karoline Leavitt says with a block of salt.

Big Questions on State Senate Candidate Conflicts — The Concord Monitor is out this week with serious concern that State Senate candidate Tara Reardon, who is married to lobbyist and former Concord mayor Jim Bouley, would be unable to vote on any legislation that involves her husband’s clients if she is elected due to a recent changes to state law.

This follows resurfaced concerns that Reardon’s past ethics issues combine with these recent concerns could be in play in the three-way split SD15 primary.

Republican Senate Candidate Running the Free Stater Playbook — State Senator Keith Murphy is running a play straight out of the Free State Project playbook, sending out mailers telling voters to write in his name on the Democratic ballot in an attempt to head-off a challenge by an actual Democrat running a write in campaign for the seat, Michael York.

The mail piece contains lies about his record, suggesting he is “pro women’s healthcare rights,” implying he would support women’s reproductive rights, a position in stark contrast with his staunchly anti-abortion record.

Keen local political observers will recognize the practice as one often used by the NH GOP-associated Free State Project, the extremist group which has been known to run far-right candidates as Democrats in State House races. Murphy has previously been associated with the Free State Project.

Trump Would Still Be President if Ayotte Only Had The Courage — Eagle eyed New Hampshire Democratic Party Comms Director Ty McEachern rightly pointed out this week that, during WMUR’s Republican gubernatorial primary, Republican gubernatorial candidate Kelly Ayotte could not muster up the courage to say Mike Pence did the right thing by certifying the 2020 election results on January 6th.
