Your weekly guide to taking action in New Hampshire April 7-12.

Happy April, Granite Staters! 

It’s Lily, your State Organizing Coordinator checking in to share all the ways you can take action across New Hampshire this week.

Getting involved in your community doesn’t just make a difference—it’s also good for you. 

Research from the Mayo Health Clinic shows that volunteering can improve both physical and mental health, provide a sense of purpose, teach valuable skills, and strengthen relationships. In times when the world can feel heavy, showing up for one another is a powerful reminder that hope lives in our communities.

Of course, in true New England fashion, spring has brought us… snow. If you’re anything like me, it can take some serious motivation to step into the cold. But I hope you’ll bundle up, dust off those winter coats, and join your neighbors in making an impact this week. 

Here’s our weekly round-up of upcoming events and actions:

Tuesday (April 7) 

New Hampshire Peace Action: Solidarity with Palestine (Warner, 4:30-5:30 p.m.) 

Hosted by community members. In solidarity with the people of Palestine and any place where oppressive regimes are carrying out genocidal programs.

603 Forward: RUN FOR IT: Telling Your Personal Story (Concord, 6-7 p.m.)

Your story is your power. In this interactive workshop, you’ll learn how to shape your lived experience into a compelling campaign narrative that connects with voters. Walk away with messaging you can actually use.

Wednesday (April 8) 

New Hampshire Peace Action: Vigil for Permanent Ceasefire Now! (Dover, 2 p.m.) 

At the district offices of Sen. Jeanne Shaheen and Congressman Chris Pappas. This vigil alternates locations weekly.

New Hampshire Peace Action: Ceasefire Now! (Hanover, 4-5 p.m.) 

Vigil for a permanent Ceasefire Now! in Gaza and the West Bank on Ledyard Bridge between Hanover, NH and Norwich, VT. 

603 Forward: Sustainability + Serving Your Community | Nashua Connect + Conquer (Nashua, 6-8 p.m.)

Join us for a fun night of drinks + snacks where we’ll discuss open board positions, how stepping into office, whether through appointment or election, can help promote sustainability, and other ways to get involved in Nashua.

New Hampshire Peace Action: Film; The Voice of Hind Rajab (Portsmouth, 7-9 p.m.)

Join 3S Artspace and Not in My Name NH for a screening of The Voice of Hind Rajab. The screening will be followed by a Q&A facilitated by Not in My Name NH. The evening will also include a marketplace of Palestinian art and crafts, and olive oil from the West Bank.

Thursday (April 8) 

New Hampshire Peace Action: Ceasefire Vigil (Concord, 12-1:30 p.m.) 

Ceasefire Vigil, City Plaza, Concord (in front of the State House). Sponsored by Concord Friends Meeting and NH Peace Action.

Open Democracy: Stories of Success (Hanover + Virtual, 5:30-7 p.m.) 

This is the sixth and final workshop in our series Your Passion, Your Leadership: A Workshop Series for Aspiring Women Advocates.

Merrimack Town Council: Conversations with Councilors (Merrimack, 6-7 p.m.)

Make Informed Decisions This Election Season! See us before the Town Council meeting to review and discuss what’s on the municipal ballot.

New Hampshire Peace Action: NH Peace Action Acts! Iran (Virtual, 7-8 p.m.)

We’ll call our representatives to urge them to support peace related legislation. We will then work on writing Letters to the Editor to further amplify our voices for peace.

American Friends Service Committee: Meeting for Worship with Attention to Peace, (Virtually, 7:30 p.m.) 

Each week, AFSC’s Quaker Engagement team hosts a virtual Meeting for Worship for Friends worldwide. Following the Quaker tradition of unprogrammed worship, participants come together to witness injustice and build solidarity with those facing oppression. These sessions provide a space to explore the spiritual side of activism and social justice.

Friday (April 10) 

American Friends Service Committee: Action Hour for Palestine, (Virtual, 12 p.m.)

Join AFSC staff every Friday to hear updates on what’s happening in Gaza. Then, take action and call Congress for a permanent cease-fire, arms embargo on Israel, and humanitarian access for Gaza.

Indivisible: Nashua Bridge Brigade, (Nashua, 2-4 p.m.) 

Every Friday afternoon, weather permitting, members of Southern NH Indivisible and NHBB occupy the bridge at exit 6 in Nashua.

Saturday (April 11)

NH Peace Action: Standing against authoritarian actions (Kingston, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.)

Gather on the grassy area across from Kingston State Park, rain or shine. Respectful, non-violent participation only. Follow the law, de-escalate tension, and stay on topic. All who share this purpose are welcome.

NH Coalition for a Just Peace in the Middle East: Bird-dog Training (Concord, 1-3 p.m.) 

Learn how to ask questions on issues of importance to the candidates who are visiting our towns!

Sunday (April 12)

Occupy Seacoast: Civil Rights Sunday (Portsmouth, 12-4 p.m.) 

In Portsmouth every Sunday, sponsored by Occupy New Hampshire Seacoast and Seacoast Peace Response.

First Unitarian Universalist Society of Exeter: Bridge Brigade (Exeter, 5-5:30 p.m.)

Vigil for peace and democracy every Sunday at the church.
