New Hampshire State Representative Jonathan Stone, who was last week revealed to have been terminated as a police officer following an investigation into his relationship with a minor and threats of mass shootings and rape, has multiple ties to Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign in the state.

Trump personally identified Stone as his campaign chair for Sullivan County during a speech in late 2023 in Claremont, where Rep. Stone is based, and thanked him for his work on the campaign.

Stone spoke on behalf of the Trump campaign on multiple news reports ahead of the New Hampshire primary, including one on WCAX as recently as January of this year. In one report, he previewed a Trump visit to the region, where it was mentioned Stone had been connected to the Trump campaign going back as far as his 2016 presidential campaign.

Indeed, Stone received national television coverage in 2016 for gifting President Trump a custom AR-15 assault rifle, with the co-owner of Black Ops Arms, Mark Limoges, crediting Stone on CNN for assembling the rifle for the former president. WMUR also covered the gifting of the assault rifle, quoting Stone as saying, “It was very nice to meet Mr. Trump.”

Stone has posted multiple photos of himself with Trump on facebook.

The recently uncovered records of Stone’s break with the Claremont Police Department have provoked a resounding backlash among Democrats in New Hampshire, and total silence from Republicans.

Leading Republican gubernatorial candidate Kelly Ayotte has thus far refused to remove Stone from lists of endorsers on her website, and has not removed social media posts of herself campaigning at Stone’s gun store.

New Hampshire Democratic Chair Ray Buckley issued a statement slamming Ayotte for not speaking up.

“Kelly Ayotte proudly accepted the endorsement from State Representative Jon Stone, who had an illegal relationship with an underage girl, threatened heinous acts of violence against the Claremont Chief of Police and the chief’s wife and children, and repeatedly said he would kill fellow police officers in a mass shooting,” said Buckley. “Ayotte’s silence in the face of Stone’s disturbing actions speaks volumes about her campaign’s severe lack of integrity.”
