Attending private school in New Hampshire could become cheaper for a lot of in-state Granite State students.

A new free-tuition program at Saint Anselm College in Manchester will accept students from New Hampshire who have a high school grade point average of 3.25 or higher, and have a family income of $100,000 or less.

Transfer students are not eligible for the program, and students are required to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and complete the application process as they try to avail the program.

Saint Anselm President Joseph A. Favazza called the program an “investment in New Hampshire’s future,” and it is a part of the college’s commitment to make education more affordable to talented and high-achieving students.

“We want to make a commitment to New Hampshire because we feel like it’s very important that students stay in New Hampshire. A lot of students leave New Hampshire to go to college, and we’re trying to think of ways to keep them in New Hampshire,” Favazza told WMUR.

The 2024-2025 cost of attending Saint Anselm College full time was $47,400 for tuition—which the new tuition aid program offers to cover—$17,020 for food and housing, $1,520 in fees, plus between about $4,500 to $7,100 in books, supplies, transportation, and personal expenses.
