One New Hampshire distillery is home to some of the best specialty craft spirits in the country, according to USA TODAY’s 10BEST Readers’ Choice Awards.
The annual awards highlight the best in travel, food and lifestyle, and winners are chosen by a public voting poll after being nominated by industry experts.
In the 2025 best craft spirits awards, ranking craft spirits across the United States in a variety of categories, Tamworth Distilling placed third in the best craft specialty spirits category – a jump up the list from its seventh place rank last year.
Here’s what to know about New Hampshire‘s top-rated spirits.
About Tamworth Distilling
Tamworth Distilling takes inspiration for their craft spirits from the surrounding natural environment. Ingredients are sourced from local farms, the distillery’s own backyard gardens or the New Hampshire wilderness. While most producers of craft spirits use grain from an industrial producer, Tamworth distills its own grain spirit base with corn, rye and malt from local farms.
The distillery’s love for New Hampshire extends from their distilling process to the spirits they create, including brews like Old Hampshire Blended Applejack and William Whipple’s Winter Wheat Whiskey, named after the New Hampshire founding father. USA TODAY specifically recommends The Devil’s Footprints Apple Liqueur, the Skiklubben Aquavit and the Chocorua New England Amaro.
How to visit Tamworth Distilling
For those who want to visit the top-rated distillery, Tamworth offers retail shopping, tastings and private events such as cocktail classes and group tastings.
Tamworth Distillery is open Wednesday-Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. at 15 Cleveland Hill Road in Tamworth, NH.
