For many people, summer means live music, fresh air, and relaxing at the end of the day. And what better way to enjoy all three than at a free summer concert? Whether it’s for the pure love of the music or as a way to gather people together, many venues in New Hampshire offer free concerts all summer long to visitors and locals alike.

And even better, many of New Hampshire’s free summer concert venues take place by the water, so all of your senses get a treat, from literal music to your ears, feeling the fresh sea breeze on your skin, and enjoying the sights of the water nearby.

For instance, NH resident Salina Clarke-Folger is a frequent attendee at the Prescott Park summer concert series, which she says is an integral part of the area. “I love Prescott Park’s concert series because it brings the community together,” notes Clarke-Folger. “The fact that it’s free makes it so accessible—you can plan an evening with a blanket and picnic or simply be walking through downtown Portsmouth and decide to stop and enjoy the music. It’s just one of the many things that make Portsmouth so charming.”

If you want to add that equally charming summer experience (and more!) to your list, read on to discover where you can catch free concerts over the next few months in New Hampshire.

1. The River House Restaurant Concert Series

Where: Prescott Park, Portsmouth

When: Mondays, 7 p.m.

The 2026 River House Restaurant Concert Series takes place at the waterfront Prescott Park, and while a $20 donation is suggested, admission is free. The concerts start at 7 p.m. and as a bonus, you can even pre-order food to enjoy during the show, such as a wood-fired pizza or a poke bowl from the onsite Ohana Kitchen. Some of the performers include Chaparelle, Mister G, and Miss Alli—with a line-up like that, you will truly be treated to an eclectic mix of performers in a picturesque setting. (And we don’t mind the poke bowl option either!)

“Prescott Park’s free concert series has always been a place where community can gather,” says local Hannah Allen. “Every concert I’ve attended, I end up running into people I know by chance. Growing up in the seacoast area, I frequented concerts as a kid and now, as an adult, with friends and family. They have something for everyone. It’s truly one of my favorite summer activities that Portsmouth offers.“

2. Woodstock Inn Brewery Live Music

Where: Woodstock Inn Brewery, Woodstock

When: Fridays, 7 p.m.

Pop in for a beer or just stick around to listen to live music for free nearly every night in June at the Woodstock Inn Brewery. If you’re feeling particularly musical, you could even join in yourself on Tuesdays from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m. for the brewery’s weekly karaoke night.

3. Music on the Green

Some of the musicians you can look forward to include Tom Knight on June 25, Studio Two: Beatles Tribute Band on July 2, and Lexi James on July 23. The series concludes August 13 with a family concert in conjunction with the Merrimack Public Library children’s department summer reading program.

All of the concerts are completely free, and the shows take place every night from 7 to 9:30 p.m. New musical groups and performers are encouraged to apply to play as well. You’ll find every type of musical genre and even a Talent Show competition closer to the end of the series in August. The series will conclude on September 19, 2026, with a big LED light and fireworks show.

7. Saint-Gaudens Memorial Summer Concert Series

Where: 139 Saint Gaudens Road, Cornish

When: Sundays at 2 p.m.

A concert in a national park? That’s like enjoying two forms of recreation for the price of one! And yet the Summer Concert Series at the National Historic Park New Hampshire offers exactly that, with free entertainment every Sunday at 2 p.m. And speaking of price, there is none, as the concert is free to all. However, access to the concert is via the National Historic Park New Hampshire, which does require either an entry fee of $10 per person ages 15 and older (under 15 are free) or a free pass, such as the National Park and Federal Recreational Lands Pass.

The annual event has been running since 1946 and is sponsored by the Saint-Gaudens Memorial, an organization set up to honor Augustus Saint-Gaudens, a sculptor, artist, and musician, who enjoyed hosting concerts. The concerts start at 2 p.m., and visitors are instructed to stop at the welcome tent south of the Little Studio for a pass.
