Keene, Oct. 2-4
Independent films from New England and around the world take over Keene for three days of screenings at the 14th annual Monadnock International Film Festival. The festival showcases a mix of films and filmmakers, giving movie lovers a chance to discover stories beyond the mainstream. A virtual festival follows Oct. 6-15 for those who canโ€™t make it in person.

Manchester, Oct. 2-4
Browse thousands of fiction and nonfiction books covering a wide range of subjects, along with DVDs, VHS tapes, and CDs at Saint Anselm Collegeโ€™s annual book sale. Paperbacks and audiovisual materials are just $1, hardcovers are $2, and admission is free, making it an inexpensive stop for book lovers looking to stock their shelves.

Downtown Dover fills with food, live entertainment and more than 250 vendors for the 42nd annual Apple Harvest Day. The festival also includes the Apple Harvest Day 5K, making it one of the larger fall celebrations happening in New Hampshire this weekend. Admission to the festival is free.

Bedford, Oct. 3
This free fall festival in Bedford features more than 35 local vendors, along with pumpkin painting, face painting and homemade baked goods. Visitors can also sample at least six flavors of free homemade ice cream while enjoying an afternoon of family-friendly fall activities.

Littleton, Oct. 3
Downtown Littleton goes to the dogs Saturday for Tailswagโ€™s Third Annual Dachtoberfest. The free event features dachshund races and contests, along with more than 35 vendors and food trucks. Visitors can watch the races or bring their own four-legged friends along for the festivities.
