Summer heat is coming.
The Old Farmer’s Almanac is predicting a hotter than average summer across most of the country, and New Hampshire and Maine are no exception.
“Overall, the forecast points to a summer defined by widespread warmth, with regional contrasts in both temperature and rainfall shaping local conditions,” the forecast said. “With above-average temperatures expected across much of the country, plan for periods of extended heat, especially during peak summer months.”
Here’s what to expect locally.
What is the almanac’s long-range summer forecast for New Hampshire and Maine?
No matter where you are in the Northeast, the prediction is for a hot summer. However, the rain forecast varies.
On the Seacoast, the prediction is for a hot, dry summer, perfect for beach days at Hampton Beach. In northern New Hampshire and most of Maine, the long-term forecast predicts it will be rainy.
The hottest fays are expected to be in June and July. Looking ahead to the fall, the almanac is predicting September and October will be wetter and cooler.
The almanac noted the whole U.S. map and regional chart show that much of the United States is trending hotter overall, especially across the southern part and eastern portions of the country.
