Many believe the Mount Washington Hotel in Bretton Woods inspired the eerie Overlook Hotel in Stephen King’s 1977 novel “The Shining.” But in reality, King based his fictional Overlook on The Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colorado, a place with its own chilling history and ghostly lore.

That said, Mount Washington Hotel has no shortage of spooky tales of its own. Sam Cohen has the full story.
