It looks like New Hampshire’s economy might be in for a bumpy ride, according to one analyst.

Chief economist Mark Zandi of Moody’s Analytics found the Granite State is among 21 states “at high risk” of slipping into a recession, according to a post on X. He says some states are experiencing slowed job growth, weaker housing markets, and companies feeling the pinch from tariffs.

Every other New England state is in the same boat, except Vermont, which is classified as “treading water.”

🎬 “Breaking Bad” (2008–2013)

While mostly set in New Mexico, the episode “Granite State” takes place in the White Mountains, where Walter White hides out in a remote cabin. Streaming on Netflix.

🎬 “Jumanji: The Animated Series” (1996–1999)

Based on the 1995 film, the show is set in the fictional town of Brantford, home to the magical board game that pulls kids into a wild adventure. Streaming free on Roku.

🎬 “Willy” (1954–1955)

This short-lived black-and-white sitcom follows Willa “Willy” Dodger, a lawyer who opens a practice in New Hampshire before heading to New York City. Not currently streaming.

🎬 “The Republic of Sarah” (2021)

Set in the fictional town of Greylock, this drama follows a teacher who declares independence from the US to protect her community from a greedy mining corporation. Streaming on Max (HBO).

🎬 “The Brotherhood of Poland, New Hampshire” (2003)

Centered on three brothers—a mayor, a cop, and an unemployed sibling, in the real town of Poland. Not currently streaming.

🎬 “Stan Against Evil” (2016–2018)

Set in small-town New Hampshire, this horror-comedy follows locals battling supernatural tied to old witch burnings. Streaming on AMC+.

🎬 “Tanner ’88” (1988)

This HBO mockumentary about a fictional presidential candidate begins in New Hampshire during the Democratic primary, highlighting the state’s central role in US politics. Streaming on The Criterion Channel.

🎬 “Ichabod and Me” (1961–1962)

A widowed journalist leaves New York City for a small town in New Hampshire to run the local paper and raise his son, Ichabod. It’s a nostalgic ode to simpler Granite State living. Not currently streaming.
