In the wake of the Concord Hospital shooting in late 2023, a group of bipartisan lawmakers came together to close a narrow loophole to prevent another shooting by individuals who had been involuntarily institutionalized. Republicans on a State Senate committee this week recommended against moving forward with the legislation. We spoke to State Rep David Meuse, one of the architects of that bill to get reactions and a sense for what’s next.
