Another week of #NHPolitics Ins and Outs, taking you on a tour of the ins and outs of the ever-changing world of New Hampshire Politics, keeping score of the winners and losers week-by-week — and letting you know who’s in and who’s out.

Let’s get into it.

Who’s In?

The Heavy Hitters Keep on Coming… for Dems — This week saw big visits from major Harris campaign surrogates, including none other than the Second Gentleman himself, Doug Emhoff, whose charming remarks about his wife, Vice President Kamala Harris, were very well received by the 300+ high energy attendees who made it out to see him in Concord this week.

And another week with no major Trump surrogates. Unless you count the grifter Riley Gaines, the scion of conservative victimhood who is currently exploiting the bogus Olympic boxer controversy. Gaines this week spoke before the New Hampshire Federation of Republican Women, where she TKTK.

Check out our full write up on Emhoff’s latest visit here.

And Anotha One — Another big set of numbers for the Harris campaign out of New Hampshire this week as Emerson College released the third major public poll since Harris joined the top of the ticket, putting her 7 percentage points ahead of Donald Trump in the state when independent brain worm candidate Robery F Kennedy Jr. is also on the ticket. This comes after two polls last week with a similar result.

One interesting takeaway? Granite Staters’ concerns over threats to democracy overtook concerns about immigration in New Hampshire. A bad sign for the party responsible for trying to overturn the results of the 2020 election.

Ayotte on Defense — It’s getting to be big video ad season in New Hampshire, with a DGA-backed group this week launching a $500,000 ad buy in the state tying Republican gubernatorial candidate Kelly Ayotte to her own record voting for a national abortion ban.

It’s gotten so bad that Ayotte was forced to put out her own ad trying to rebrand and spin her abortion position in an attempt to make her record less politically toxic to Granite Staters. Check out our stories on those here and here.

Who’s Out!

Ugly Bigotry in Sports — Top Republican leaders from across the state bought into misinformation from a right-wing hoax surrounding an Olympic female boxer from Algeria beating another female boxer from Italy. Those pushing the hoax falsely claimed the Algerian boxer was a man and used the situation as evidence of widespread need for for the kind anti-LGBTQ+ legislation passed in the New Hampshire House this year. Among those who amplified the misinformation were NH GOP Chair Chris Ager, gubernatorial candidate Chuck Morse, and Republican State Senate candidate Victoria Sullivan and more.

Why did so many Republicans push this obviously bogus story? Look for more reporting on that from us this week.

More Sign Shenanigans — Last week it was Ken Weyler in the hot seat on campaign signs, after who was called out by his fellow Republicans for potentially illegally pulling down the yard signs of a candidate he opposed. This week it’s none other than close friend of the Granite Post, Kelly Awho is catching flack from the Chuck Morse for Governor campaign for copying his yard sign color scheme and motif for her own signs.

NH State Rep. Sandra Panek posted about the drama on social media.

More Evidence of Republican Border Lies — Republicans have made the idea of a politically convenient “crisis” at the New Hampshire border with Canada a huge part of their anti-immigrant political messaging in recent elections, but the data to back up their claims always seems to come down against them.

Yet another data point contrary to those claims was released this week, when a new report showed zero apprehensions or encounters of illegal migrants in the United States at New Hampshire’s border with Canada from January through early May of this year, despite overwhelming rhetoric from Republicans claiming otherwise.
