Trump marketed his White House ballroom as a something that would be funded by private donors, but Republicans in Congress are actively pushing for to use taxpayer money to fund part of the project. US Senate candidate John E. Sununu, when pressed if he would support public funding for the ballroom, simply said, “it’s a public space.”
