1. Ocean Borne Mary House – Henniker
A historic house just outside Henniker on Bear Road. Ocean Borne Mary, born aboard a ship in the 1700s, reportedly still sits in the rocking chair. The house is filled with antiques and ghost stories, attracting curious visitors.
2. Three Chimneys Inn – Durham
Built in 1649, the inn is haunted by Hannah Hill, who drowned in the nearby Oyster River. Guests report mischievous activity like disappearing silverware and self-locking doors.
3. Woodland Cemetery – Keene
Home to the Sumner Knight Chapel, this cemetery is known for eerie experiences. Legend says a ghost punishes cursing by making your mouth taste like soap.
4. The Tilton Inn – Tilton
Operating since 1875, the inn has hosted famous guests like Henry Ford and Thomas Edison. Guests report seeing the ghost of a 12-year-old girl named Laura, who died in a fire, roaming the inn with a smile.
5. Stark Road Graveyard – Conway
Built in the 1800s, this graveyard is said to be haunted by Civil War soldiers. Abel Blood, a local war hero, reportedly roams seeking peace.
6. Alton Town Hall – Alton
Built in 1894, the town hall is home to unexplained footsteps, voices, and moving furniture. Late-night employees have reported eerie activity, particularly from the corridor and courtroom.
7. Island Path Road – Hampton Beach
The home of Eunice “Goody” Cole, accused of witchcraft in the 1600s. Cole’s ghost is said to haunt the end of the road, and the street is ranked as one of New Hampshire’s scariest.
8. Colonial Theater – Laconia
Built in 1914, the theater has a sinister aura, especially on the balcony. Lights flicker, doors open and close mysteriously, and ghostly sounds of guitars have been reported.
9. Omni Mount Washington Hotel Resort and Spa – Bretton Woods
The iconic hotel is said to be haunted by Carolyn Stickney, who frequents room 314. Guests report unexplained voices, footsteps, and ghost sightings throughout the property.
