A recent survey by PixlParade looked at the most popular Christmas movies across the US, and for New England, “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” reigns supreme in New Hampshire and Massachusetts, while Vermont and Maine favor “A Christmas Story.”

The study, which surveyed nearly 2,000 adults in each state, found that Americans love holiday films that mix humor with relatable family chaos, rather than purely magical stories.

Across New England, the appeal is similar: funny, imperfect families navigating the joys and frustrations of the season. Other regional favorites include “Home Alone” in parts of the Northeast and “The Holiday” in Rhode Island.
