It’s America’s 249th birthday on Friday!
Back in 1776, 56 men signed their names to the Declaration of Independence. Among them were three from New Hampshire—Josiah Bartlett, William Whipple, and Matthew Thornton. Their signatures helped shape a new nation.
These days, New Hampshire towns honor the Fourth of July legacy in their own way, with parades, fireworks, and festivals that stretch into the night.

July 3 — Patriotic Concert at Abbie Griffin Park, 6:30-8 p.m. July 4 — 25th Annual Sparkler 5K Road Race at Merrimack High School, 8 a.m., pancake breakfast, 8-11 a.m., parade at 1 p.m., fireworks at 9:15 p.m. More info
Hampton Beach Fireworks July 4
You may have heard fireworks at Hampton got a delayed start this year due to the nesting of the protected piping plovers. But the fireworks are back up and running as of June 25.
