“In New England, the seasons are written with a chisel. Winter is stern and rugged, spring reluctant, summer brief but ardent, and autumn magnificent beyond compare.” — Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

It’s officially spring—which also means wedding season is in full swing.
But one celebration in Tamworth took a dangerous turn: six people were injured when about half the wedding party—roughly 70 guests—fell eight feet through a floor into the basement.
The venue is on a farm dating back to the 1700s, so it’s likely the building is pretty old, too.

🚨 A Massachusetts doctor already facing rape charges is now accused by even more patients. Prosecutors say Derrick Todd has been indicted on 20 new charges involving 11 additional victims, with allegations ranging from rape to indecent assault. Authorities say he exploited patients during medical exams between 2021 and 2023. Todd has denied the allegations and is expected in court March 25. More than 270 former patients are also part of an ongoing civil lawsuit. Read about the lawsuit at WCBV.
🐈 Meanwhile … across the border (literally), a cat named Louis Vuitton is going viral for casually crossing between the US and Canada—no passport required. The Canadian feline hops a small ditch separating the countries near Peace Arch Park in Washington and has become a local legend (and internet star), racking up millions of views. His owner says he’s friendly, fearless, and occasionally “smuggles” home gifts like mice and squirrels. See how Louis gets away with it at CBC Radio.

And in a high-stakes showdown … Robert Kraft and local officials in Foxborough finally struck a deal with FIFA over security costs for the 2026 World Cup. The town refused to put taxpayers on the hook. A last-minute agreement clears the way for seven matches at Gillette Stadium this summer—avoiding the very real possibility the games could’ve been moved. Read about the deal at ESPN.

Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey sent a letter to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on March 10 demanding a $1,745 refund for every household in the state to offset the financial impact of President Donald Trump’s tariffs. Rhode Island Gov. Dan McKee followed suit shortly thereafter.
So this week’s question is…

Should New Hampshire Gov. Kelly Ayotte demand tariff refunds for NH households?

Here’s what you’re saying…
“If only she had the courage to worry about NH folks and not her political career.” — Sandy Keans
“Hell yes! But she’s too in love with Trump and the Republicans to do anything like that.” — David Masters

Dear Readers,
What’s the best way to support and show love to a friend who has suddenly lost her husband? I want to help, especially during the winter months, but I’m not sure what to do.
— Unsure in Missouri
Dear Unsure,
Ask The Readers is your regular chance to grab the mic and give advice to other readers in our community. Each piece of advice we share comes from a different thoughtful reader.
My heart goes out to you and your friend. Losing your partner suddenly is one of the hardest things a person can go through, and wanting to be there for her shows how much you care. I know you want to do the right thing, and it can feel scary not knowing exactly what that is. Grief is a natural and healthy part of being human, even though sometimes it can be messy or uncomfortable.
The good news is that our readers have walked this road before, both as the friend who shows up and as the one who needs support. Here are some of the suggestions that women from across the country submitted…
