The most popular baby names in 2024 have finally been released by the Social Security Administration and here are the top names in our state …

For boys:
Theodore
Oliver
Henry

For girls:
Charlotte
Olivia
Amelia

That’s a slight change from 2023, when Charlotte, Olivia, and Evelyn, were the most popular girls’ names in NH, and Oliver, Theodore, and Henry were most popular for boys.

Wondering how they compare to decades past? Here’s a look at the most popular baby names across the US every 20 years, since the Social Security Administration began keeping track of popular baby names in 1880:

1880: Mary, Anna, Emma; John, William, James
1900: Mary, Helen, Anna; John, William, James
1920: Mary, Dorothy, Helen; John, William, Robert
1940: Mary, Barbara, Patricia; James, Robert, John
1960: Mary, Susan, Linda; David, Michael, James
1980: Jennifer, Amanda, Jessica; Michael, Christopher, Jason
2000: Emily, Hannah, Madison; Jacob, Michael, Matthew
2020: Olivia, Emma, Ava; Liam, Noah, Oliver
2023: Olivia, Emma, Charlotte; Liam, Noah, Oliver
