President William Howard Taft and writer Mark Twain are a few of the famous figures to spend time at a New Hampshire mansion featured on popular social media real estate account Zillow Gone Wild.

The mansion, known as Knollwood, is “one of America’s most storied private estates,” according to the listing.

The Dublin, NH home is on sale for $15 million.

What is the history of the NH mansion?

The mansion was built in 1900 by Franklin MacVeagh, the U.S. Secretary of the Treasury under Taft.  It was acquired in 1954 by Ernest Henderson, the founder of Sheraton Hotels, whose family it has remained in ever since. Mitzi Perdue, Henderson’s daughter and the widow of Perdue Chicken CEO Frank Perdue, is now selling the home.

The listing says that Taft occasionally used the mansion as his “Summer White House” from 1910 – 1913, hosting political summits and gatherings, and that Twain spent weeks at the home.

“Over the decades, nearly every major political figure has walked its halls, cementing its status as a destination for power, influence, & culture,” reads the listing.

It is listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.

Where is the NH mansion?

The mansion’s address is 4 Windmill Hill Rd, Dublin, NH 03444.

The listing says it is “perched atop a ridge of Mount Monadnock,” giving the estate sweeping 40-mile views. It’s located on a 104-acre lot featuring gardens, forests and a boutique vineyard.

“This is for everyone who hates when I show a mansion where you can see your neighbors in the back yard,” Zillow Gone Wild wrote.

It’s 14 miles from the Keene Dillant-Hopkins Airport, which accommodates private jets.

The listing says there are also amenities, like tennis, golf, swimming, hiking, horseback riding and snowshoeing, nearby.

How many beds, baths does the home have? Other features

The home is nearly 15,000 square feet, with 13 bedrooms and 9.5 bathrooms.

It also has a 26-seat dining room, library, terraces and a grand ballroom that can seat up to 120 people.

Outside, there’s a 3-car garage with an extra apartment above as well as a 3-stall barn.

Instagram users say house belongs in “Bridgerton”

Instagram users were conflicted over the mansion, some calling it beautiful while others saying it isn’t worth the price. Many called out a knock-off Mona Lisa hung over the fireplace.

“Didn’t realize Bridgerton took place in NH,” commented Liz Pardo, or user @lwitta6.

“Hay, they even have the Mona Lisa over the fireplace!! Wow! I didn’t know the Louvre would lend it out!!,” commented @christaleighnola.

“15 million and a gravel driveway?” commented @beepbeepgetouttheway.

“Both hoity and toity,” commented Laura, @instapic1960.

“Thus is a house I’d feel strange wearing sweats or my ratty pj’s in. I would feel I had to be dressed up all the time,” commented Lisa Becker Rosendhal, @lisab.rose.
