If you’ve ever seen the film, “IT,” or read the book by Stephen King, you know that Pennywise the clown is a horrifying creature.
But people can’t seem to get enough of him.
And that’s why HBO adapted the classic two-part movie into a new mini-series called “Welcome to Derry,” which will apparently serve as a prequel to “IT.”
“Based on Stephen King’s novel ‘IT,’ the new horror-drama series … expands the vision established by filmmaker Andy Muschietti in the feature films ‘IT’ and ‘IT Chapter Two,'” according to HBO online.

The season premiere drops on Oct. 26, 2025 at 9 p.m.

It will air on HBO and it will also be streaming on HBO Max.
What is ‘IT’ about?
“IT” focuses on a group of children who encounter an ancient evil in their small Maine town in the form of a sadistic clown named Pennywise.
When the kids think they have done away with Pennywise, the evil returns when the group grows up into adults.
Each member of the group makes a consious decision to return to their hometown and face down the horror once and for all.
Is Bill Skarsgård returning to play Pennywise?
Yes, he will reprise his iconic role as Pennywise the clown for this show.
Is there any plot synopsis of the new show yet?
Details are slim, but reports say the show is a prequel focusing on the history of Derry and Pennywise.
Who are the stars of the series?
They include Skarsgård, Taylour Paige, Jovan Adepo, Chris Chalk, James Remar, Stephen Rider, Madeleine Stowe and Rudy Mancuso.

It consists of eight parts, airing weekly.
