Somersworth voters will elect a mayor, city councilors and School Board members on the ballots in the Tuesday, Nov. 4 election.

The election is held every two years.

Read on for information voters need to know. Key information on voting is provided by the city clerk’s office.

What time do polls open and close in Somersworth?

Polling places in Somersworth will be open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4. Voters should bring identification. The New Hampshire secretary of state has posted information on the state’s voter ID law.

Where do I vote in Somersworth?

The voting locations are as follows:

  • Ward 1: City Hall, 1 Government Way
  • Ward 2: Summersworth Historical Museum, 157 Main St.
  • Ward 3: Somersworth High School cafeteria, 11 Memorial Drive
  • Ward 4: Idlehurst Elementary School cafeteria, 46 Stackpole Road
  • Ward 5: Romeo J. Messier Building, 218 Main St.

Residents must vote in the ward in which they live. If you aren’t sure which ward you live in, check the ward map.

Can I register to vote on Election Day if I am not already registered?

Yes, new voters may register to vote on Election Day at their designated polling location.

Who are the candidates for Somersworth mayor?

Mayor Matt Gerding is seeking reelection to a second two-year term. Kitara Maxey is his opponent for the second straight election.

Gerding, who is a Somersworth Middle School science teacher, said he is the only current openly LGBTQ mayor in New Hampshire. He touted his record, saying he won awards for work on the housing crisis, and pushed for federal investment in an accessibility expansion for the city’s library.

Maxey, who has said she works as a financial strategist, said, “I am choosing to run for mayor because I have spent my life listening to the people, finding the proper solutions and have waited for the right time to implement them. I have found the solution to gain back the power to the people by utilizing financial literacy as the foundation to help end hunger and homelessness in New Hampshire, all starting in the small town of Somersworth.”

Who are the candidates for Somersworth City Council?

There will be one contested race for City Council, a three-person race for the Ward 1 seat. Here are all the candidates:

  • Ward 1: Kimberly Shoen, Bonnie McNair and Donald N. Berrios.
  • Ward 2: Kenneth Vincent (incumbent).
  • Ward 3: Robert Gibson (incumbent).
  • Ward 4: Crystal Paradis-Catanzaro (incumbent).
  • Ward 5: Richard R. Michaud (incumbent).
  • At-large seats (four): David Witham (incumbent), Nancie Cameron (incumbent), Laura Barry (incumbent) and Donald Austin.

Who are the candidates for Somersworth School Board?

There will be one contested race for the School Board, a two-person election in Ward 4. Here are all the candidates:

  • Ward 1: Marcia Brown (incumbent).
  • Ward 2: Kari Clark (current at-large board member and vice chair).
  • Ward 3: Bridget Jameson (incumbent).
  • Ward 4: Kirsten Gowdy and Phillip Yoder.
  • Ward 5: Carly Isabel Prescott (incumbent).
