The New Hampshire Center for Photography will open its 26th annual exhibit and sale on Jan. 3 at the Exeter Town Hall Gallery, showcasing nearly 100 original works by 48 fine art photographers from across the state.
The show runs through Feb. 1 and is open Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 4 p.m. An opening reception will be held Saturday, Jan. 3, from noon to 4 p.m., with many of the participating photographers on hand to discuss their work and creative process.
The exhibition features a wide range of photographic methods, from black‑and‑white gelatin silver prints and conventional color prints to historically inspired handmade contact prints and contemporary digital images printed on archival papers. This year’s featured image is Ice Cave, Iceland, an archival pigment print by photographer Michael Goodman.
“Each year, we invite our 150‑plus members to take part in this exhibition,” said Gary Samson, president of the NH Center for Photography. “These photographers, located throughout New Hampshire, are the ‘best of the best,’ and each year they exhibit their work in Exeter. When speaking with the photographers, you will find there is always a very interesting story behind each image.”
The organization, formerly known as the New Hampshire Society of Photographic Artists, changed its name last year after a membership vote. The new name reflects a broader mission of education, outreach, and expanded programming. The group supports the artistic development of its members and the wider community through exhibitions, publications, and educational events.
More information is available on the NH Center for Photography’s Facebook page and at nhcp.org. The Exeter Town Hall Gallery, located at 10 Front St., is handicap accessible via an elevator at the side entrance. Admission is free.
