The NH House just passed the “CHARLIE Act,” short for the Countering Hate And Revolutionary Leftist Indoctrination in Education Act. Named after conservative activist Charlie Kirk, the bill could put tight guardrails on what teachers can say about LGBTQ+ issues, race, and American history—and the backlash is loud. Adding even more fuel to the debate, all five of the bill’s Republican sponsors have faced controversy of their own.
