More people moved into New Hampshire than left from 2024 to 2025, with the state ranking 22nd in the nation for net domestic migration gain, according to data from the U.S. Census Bureau.

Thousands of residents moved into the Granite State from other states during that period. However, the Northeast as a region experienced a net domestic migration loss of 205,552, according to the data.

New Hampshire‘s total population grew by 6,824 when factoring in births, deaths, and international migration. The state actually saw about 2,100 more deaths than births during the year, meaning that migration drove the overall population increase.

Here’s what to know about the states with the highest and lowest net domestic migration across the country:

New Hampshire‘s net domestic, international migration from 2024 to 2025

From July 1, 2024, to July 1, 2025, New Hampshire had a net domestic migration of 6,554, with 6,554 more people moving into the state than moving out, according to data from the U.S. Census Bureau.

The state also had a net international migration of 2,403, as 2,403 more people moved into New Hampshire from abroad than left.

New Hampshire has a total population of 1.42 million people, according to U.S. Census data.

States with highest net domestic migration from 2024 to 2025

  2. Texas: 67,299 residents
