June is Pride Month, and time for all us Granite Staters to support New Hampshire’s  LGBTQ+ community. Here is a list of some of our staff-picked LGBTQ+ run local businesses.

Teatotaller in Concord

Perhaps one of the most widely known LGBTQ+ owned businesses in the state, Teatotaller is a mainstay of Main Street in Concord. A colorful cafe and bakery, it has a wide selection of teas (I could go for its iced chai any day), coffee beverages, and pastries.

Teatotaller also has another location on Hale Street in Dover. Check out the calendar for scheduled Pride Month events.

Penumbra in Concord

With locations in Concord and Goffstown, Penumbra is a shopper’s paradise if you have a green thumb.

Started by wives Alison Murphy and Alyssa McClary, the retail business sells all things plant-related such as indoor plants, pots, watering cans, plant accessories, and holders. In addition, the store sells miscellaneous items such as notebooks, jewelry, and cards.

Pro tip: keep an eye out for some of its “make your own” classes here.

Slim Pickin’s in Littleton

A neighborhood dive bar, Slim Pickin’s is located on Main Street in Littleton.

With regular trivia and karaoke nights, Slim Pickin’s makes the perfect spot for a quick evening hang with friends. From cheap beer and  fancy bottles to non-alcoholic options, there’s something for all your friends here!

Follow its Instagram page to keep up with upcoming events and fun activities.

Juniper Kitchen in Dover

Formerly known as Roots Cafe and Juice Bar, Juniper is an entirely plant-based eatery. With smoothies, overnight oats, and health bowls on the menu, Juniper is the perfect spot for health freaks!

Mostly known for brunch, the restaurant is currently serving trial dinner on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays—it’s an entirely gluten-free and vegan menu.

“And if you pop in at another time and you’re avoiding gluten, rejoice: it’s menu items can be customized to be gluten-free

Philip Mark Salon in Manchester

Owned by Granite State native Mark McAdams, the salon has been in business on South Willow Street since 2009.

Named the Best of New Hampshire by Hippo multiple times, the salon’s offerings include haircuts, hair coloring, styling, and extensions. Other services include makeup with lashes, eyebrow and face waxing, and hair treatments such as Olaplex and Cezanne smoothing keratin treatments. Interested? Get a trial quote here

Support Our Cause

Thank you for taking the time to read our work. Before you go, we hope you'll consider supporting our values-driven journalism, which has always strived to make clear what's really at stake for New Hampshirites and our future.

Since day one, our goal here at Granite Post has always been to empower people across the state with fact-based news and information. We believe that when people are armed with knowledge about what's happening in their local, state, and federal governments—including who is working on their behalf and who is actively trying to block efforts aimed at improving the daily lives of Granite State families—they will be inspired to become civically engaged.
