Picklr, the indoor pickleball franchise expanding across North America, has opened its first New Hampshire location in Seabrook.

The franchise is operated by the mother‑and‑son team of Jody and Drew Rodgers, of North Hampton and Stratham, respectively. The club at 270 Lafayette Road is celebrating its grand opening Saturday, June 6.

The free event will feature all‑day open play, “Beat the Pro” challenges, fastest‑serve competitions, food trucks, raffles and giveaways. The new 25,000‑square‑foot facility includes nine oversized indoor courts with Picklr’s outdoor‑style surfacing, a pro shop, warm‑up area and community space.

“Bringing The Picklr to Seabrook means the local pickleball community will now have access to a best‑in‑class indoor pickleball experience,” said co‑owner Drew Rodgers. “From our state-of-the-art courts and all-inclusive memberships to our array of programs for every age and skill level, we’re excited to create a place where players can  connect, compete and grow their love for the game year-round.”

Pickleball, played by two or four people on a badminton‑sized court with a net, combines elements of tennis and table tennis. Players use short‑handled paddles and a light, perforated plastic ball. Invented in Washington state in the 1960s as a backyard game, pickleball first gained popularity among older adults in the Pacific Northwest before spreading nationwide in the 2000s.

According to reports from the Sports and Fitness Industry Association, in 2023, pickleball grew 223.5% over three years in the United States, with 13.6 million people playing the sport. That number increased to 19.8 million in 2024, a nearly 46% increase.

What to know about the Picklr in Seabrook

The Seabrook facility, like other Picklr franchises, will be a membership entity, Rodgers said, offering unlimited open play, league and tournament access, with members having full access to courts, plus instructors for private lessons, group clinics, as well as AI training. There’s also a pro shop and a private community space where players can relax, connect, enjoy refreshments and even host events.
