Business Insider named a Nashua mainstay as the most iconic and beloved ice cream shop in New Hampshire. It’s been in business for over 80 years.

“From century-old soda fountains and roadside stands to small-batch creameries that have become national sensations, these destinations offer more than just a good scoop,” Business Insider said.

President Donald Trump’s primetime July 16 speech called into question election security. 

Trump unveiled heavily redacted classified documents he said showed Chinese influence, a US intelligence cover-up, and election fraud in Michigan. But there’s no evidence of his claims.

“I came from Ohio 4 years ago where the system is as corrupt as it can be, including the politicians in power self-serving themselves and no others! Since coming to New Hampshire, I’ve seen the current politicians in power being as self-serving as Ohio was. However, the system is as secure and professional as I’ve seen anywhere, at least in Charlestown. The town clerk knows me from our dealings, but I still have to show the proper identification during sign-in at the voting place. I’m just a number at that point, and that’s what I would expect and demand. I was even able to vote in Vietnam during the presidential election of that year (?) by absentee vote. 🌳 Scientists are vaccinating New England’s trees against Dutch elm disease. 

In Vermont, researchers are deliberately infecting 5,000 saplings bred from rare survivor elms, then breeding the heartiest survivors. The goal is to bring American elms back to the floodplains where they once slowed floods and filtered water. Vermont Public

⛴️ Connecticut just unveiled its next-generation ocean research craft. 

The Sound Outlook, a $2.2 million catamaran (for the non-nautical, this is a boat with two hulls), can slip into bays and estuaries as shallow as two feet, opening up eelgrass beds and coves unreachable to previous crafts that have monitored Long Island Sound’s health for decades. 🎓 New Hampshire is clearing the path to STEM careers for low-income students. 

Saint Anselm College won its largest-ever NSF award to fund up to 80 scholarships for students moving from community college into STEM degrees. The program builds a path all the way from a two-year school to a master’s at UNH. Saint Anselm College
