The top 2028 presidential contender will share the stage with New Hampshire Democrats’ nominees for Senate, governor and the 1st Congressional District, whose races new polling shows are close.
Former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, a top contender for the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination nationally and in New Hampshire, will headline a rally in Rochester on Friday, Oct. 2, alongside Democrats running for US Senate, governor, and the 1st Congressional District.
US Rep. Chris Pappas, the party’s nominee for Senate; Stefany Shaheen, its nominee for the 1st District; and Cinde Warmington, its nominee for governor, will join Buttigieg at the rally.
Buttigieg, who also previously served as mayor of South Bend, Ind.,, led New Hampshire’s 2028 Democratic field with 25% in a Saint Anselm College Survey Center poll released Aug. 20. US Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) was second at 17%.
A University of New Hampshire Survey Center Granite State Poll released Sept. 24 found Pappas leading Trump-endorsed Republican former U.S. Sen. John E. Sununu 50% to 42% in the race to replace retiring Sen. Jeanne Shaheen.
The same poll found Stefany Shaheen, the senator’s daughter, essentially tied with Trump-endorsed Republican Anthony DiLorenzo.
Warmington, who trailed by 5 points in the survey center’s June poll, is now essentially tied with Republican Gov. Kelly Ayotte, who is seeking a second term.
How can you attend the Rochester rally?
Registration is mandatory for rally attendance. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. The venue has not been announced. Organizers have told supporters they will send the location to people who sign up 24 hours before the event. The public can RSVP here.
Where else is Buttigieg campaigning in New Hampshire?
Before the rally, Buttigieg will join Pappas in Manchester from 2:30-4 p.m. to talk about the biggest problems facing Granite Staters and Pappas’ plans for Washington, according to a Pappas campaign advisory.
On Saturday, Oct. 3, at 10 a.m., Buttigieg and Shaheen will help the New Hampshire AFL-CIO , the state’s largest federation of union members, launch a door-knocking drive at its office at 161 Londonderry Turnpike in Hooksett. Sign up here.
Volunteers will talk with union households about the AFL-CIO’s endorsed candidates, including Pappas, whom the federation endorsed for Senate on Sept. 2.
“We look forward to welcoming Secretary Buttigieg, Stefany Shaheen, and union members from across New Hampshire to Hooksett on October 3,” Alan Raff of the New Hampshire AFL-CIO wrote in an email to members.
