The New Hampshire Democratic Party has launched a new video aimed at holding leading Republican gubernatorial candidate Kelly Ayotte accountable for her work shaping the modern conservative majority on the U.S. Supreme Court.
The move comes one day after the court issued a shock 6-3 ruling that grants “absolute immunity” to Donald Trump from criminal prosecution to some of his actions while president in the effort to overturn the 2020 election.
Specifically the video targets Ayotte’s work as a “sherpa” to the nomination of Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court in 2017. After President Donald Trump nominated Gorsuch in 2017, Ayotte was appointed as the lead for his confirmation where she was responsible for guiding him through the confirmation process, including preparing him for meetings with senators and helping to strategize the overall confirmation approach.
Since his appointment to the Supreme Court, Justice Neil Gorsuch has been involved in several key conservative rulings. He authored the majority opinion in “Epic Systems Corp. v. Lewis” in 2018, which upheld the enforceability of arbitration clauses that prevent employees from pursuing class or collective actions.

He wrote the majority opinion in a decision earlier this week that targeted individuals experiencing homelessness with criminal penalties.
He joined the conservative majority in “Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization” in 2022, which overturned Roe v. Wade and eliminated the federal constitutional right to an abortion—an opinion he approved in just 10 minutes.
NHDP Communications Advisor Jack Richter said Ayotte’s role in shaping the court was directly linked to the overturning of Roe v. Wade and this new decision.
“Ayotte can continue trying to run away from her extensive anti-choice record, but extreme rulings by the SCOTUS that she helped create serve as a constant reminder. Granite Staters won’t forget her past, and they will vote accordingly come November.”
